Description

PalaSerradimigni was built in 1980 with only sections A and B available along the sides of the court and it only held a capacity for 2500 seats. In 1992, after the promotion to the A2 league in 1989, two more sections, C and D, were added behind the baskets on either side of the court. The capacity grew to 4532 seats. In 2007 it was named after Roberta Serradimigni, one of the best Sardinian basketball players in the league. She played on the national team for several years and in 1980 won the silver medal in the junior category of the European Championships becoming one of the best point gaurds in the tournament. She died in 1996 in a car accident. She was only 32 years old.

Palaserradimigni is located in the upper part of the city in via Chironi (Piazzale Segni) in front of the soccer stadium called Vanni Sanna. It hosts some of the most important basketball teams like Dinamo (1st league) and Anmic (1st league in wheelchair basketball). In the past there were also men’s and women’s handball and volleyball matches as well as the Guido Sieni International Trophy competition in judo.
